Following recent speculation on American Express providing inworld credit cards in the virtual world of Second Life, as they already do in the uber-popular World of Warcraft game, comes news that a German bank, Wirecard have opened up a branch [SLUrl] inworld where specially trained staff can assist residents with help and information on the banks products and also provide access to "payment services". What that actually means is anyone's guess at this point, but one things for sure. Second Life sure is full of bankers right now...
Wirecard have made a similar move on Entropia Universe, a futuristic world with many similarly commerical qualities to that of Second Life, bringing us further toward the conclusion that companies need to be looking at a wider group of communities and platforms when thinking about "virtual worlds".
