Confirmed: Mindark Targets 7M Concurrent Users in New Expansion Deal

Further to our story on Mindark, the company behind Entropia Universe signing a new distribution deal with Chinese company CRD, comes confirmation that the futuristic virtual world maker plans to build a network capable of sustaining 7M concurrent users in 2008. If they pull it off, it will become the largest virtual world supporting a cash economy in the world. As previously mentioned, the deal was made with Chinese company CRD, and the target population is 150M and a further $1bn in annual commerce.

The deal with Chinese game development company CRD will open up hundreds of new planets in the virtual universe.

How would we ever know if it really is capable of seven million concurrent users (higher than Warcraft, even) if it continues to not ever give out concurrent user data?

Also, the game's format (first person shooter, realistic rendering) has never caught on in the Asian market.

I agree there's a pinch of salt to be taken with this news :)

However that breaks down, if they pull it off that means an awful lot of sweat.

lol @csven

@crissa: The more reason to enter and try it, with a different approach of course. If you succeed you will be the sole player in that niche.
