According to an official press release from MindArk the virtual world of Entropia Universe will be retrofitted with a new graphics engine in mid-2008. CryENGINE 2® by Crytek is capable of rendering extremely realistic details live. Dozens of lighting and distance effects accompany high definition "3D Ocean Technology" and an extremely sophisticated physics engine.
Significantly, Crysis will only run on Windows XP or Windows Vista and will be backwards compatible with 2 to 3 year old PCs. This may mean that Entropia Universe will be sacrificing many veteran users while depending on an influx of new ones.

For those who don't know Entropia, the demo video is *not* Entropia, but a wargame demo based on the graphics engine. EU is a real-economy game, but it's more like a traditional (or maybe Korean) MMO in that your activity would consist at first of killing animals for their dung and collecting fruit which you can sell to players and such. But it's hard to get ahead without buying PEDs, the local currency. However, you can pull currency out of the game into a real bank account.
Personally I prefer SL as a social/economic game...

Shava - I knew I forgot something! I've written about Entropia so often before and fell into that trap of assuming that all readers knew the world and would recognize the video as a demo. OF COURSE not everybody knows it... I really should have had a summary paragraph in there and set the video up better. Thanks so much for your comment

Installed Entropia as well, but somehow its hard for me, how you can create things, import your own 3D models and designs like you can do in a sandbox in SL. Sofar as a new user in Entropia, I only can sweat those bugging animals around there to increase my stats. But most I'm interrested in is creating and selling my own designs like i can do in SL.
For me the market seems in Entropia, kill an animal or mine stuff, and sell the drops, with a small profit?!
I have downloaded Entropia Universe on my computer but sometimes it does work properly or at all. because I am running windows VISTA. SO what do you think is a the best idea for me?
