QQ Hits 28.5 Million Concurrent Users

QQ, the gigantic messenger/games/mobile/you-name-it service whose runaway virtual currency "QQ Coin" is theorized to actually be influencing the Yuan, broke 28.5 million concurrent users recently.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Tencent Holdings, the company that created QQ, made US$37.5 million in the first quarter of 2007 (mostly generated from value-added services). Also last quarter the total active registered users grew 9.1 percent, bringing them up to 253.7 million accounts. At the current growth rate that should put the total number of active accounts just past the US population in around six months.
