On May 21st ClickZ Specifics: Advertising in Social Media conference will be held at the Hilton New York.
Social networks, user-generated content, blogs, feeds, tagging, social bookmarking, immersive game environments, and virtual worlds. It’s Web 2.0, your customers are in control, and the old-fashioned media buy has all but gone bye-bye.
Reading through the agenda it becomes clear that while they may have a grasp on what Web 2.0 is all about (just barely), they seem to be equating virtual worlds with other social media.
Guys, Second Life isn't a website.
This comes as an interesting follow-up to 57's article today about Social Search & Presence Apps. The entire conference is focused on social media PR campaigns, but ignores the ways that those in virtual worlds communicate with each other about what's happening right now.
If you're planning a social media campaign in the future this might be a good way to contact a few PR firms, but if you're interested in virtual worlds, steer clear.
