Luckily we get more than just a peek at what the latest amazing technologists have to show off when Metaversed holds what amounts to a "show and tell" for geek stars. This month, the event slated for this week, Friday September 7 at Noon SLT at Metaversed Island will be no exception.
Navillus Batra of i3D is bringing the vHud to show us a new way to stream media in Second Life. Navilus known for innovation in everything from basic video and image displays to interactive multimedia products for collaboration and conferencing in Second Life.
Temporal Mitra and Bopete Yossarian will demonstrate a breakthrough new technology in their new streaming TV device for use in Second Life - without adjustment to the media url on the owners land. Plus it can stream separate and different streams to different users at the same time. Sweet.
How do we keep track of where we’ve been, whom we’ve been in touch with and how to communicate with others while in a virtual world? Ksso Yamauba tackles the issue of coupling the Web to the Metaverse with SL-Messenger
Jimjimjim Allen will show off a web auctioning system, similar to eBay, for Second Life. And in 3-d no less.
Not content with this stellar line-up, and Interested in new menuing systems and streaming media technologies? Tue Torok and Arnout Sequent of SL Internet will be showing off their latest innovations.
There will be time for demonstrations, questions and answer session with our Metaversed host Nick Wilson, 57 Miles in Second Life, as well as questions from the audience.

Would seem on the face of the report that this system is an adaptation, or similar to the Silver Stream Network Media Controls system that has been showcased at the International Technology Expo, earlier this year and won an award for innovation. Users in Second Life have been able to purchase this system through EML-Entertainments http://www.eml-entertainments.com/silverstreamtechnology.html for the past 5 months, and there have been huge sales, deploying this across nearly every corner of the grid. Many users, from 'domestic' TV/Media players, to education and business users, have been enjoying the power and flexibility of this system since its launch.
Any sim that has a simple 1 prim 'server' deployed, can support media screen/controllers in any parcel, land area within that sim without the need for media permissions from the land owner, that same server will also create a 'hotspot' for the new vHUD Media system being launched by i3Dnow.
It is always a good thing to see competition develop in the wake of the success of the Silver Stream Network. We wish both Temporal Mitra and Bopete Yossarian success with their system, but to report it as breakthrough in new technology.... is perhaps slightly muted?
Great to see Tue Torok and Arnout Sequent working on their colaborative venture :¬) WTG guys.. look forward to seeing you at the show.
Thanks for the info AWM, remind me to drop off advertising rates to your inbox :)
Simply wanted to clear up any ambiguity... but as long as you don't pay with Ginko bonds... we are very reasonable about what we charge :¬)
